There are direct inspirational designs on the AV-4044 Hawkder Hurricane Watch that Avi-8 got directly from the 242 RAF Squadron that war hero Sir Douglan Bader commanded in WW2. This rounded case has a similar stainless steel construction to all the fighter jets in Bader’s battalion of flying aces, and the striped band has a throwback ’40s style. Avi-8 even sketched the same “LE” markings from each jet on the watch’s six o’ clock index to commemorate this defender of the disabled, who lost the use of his legs in the ’30s and still fought throughout the last world war.
