The Luminox Land Ice-Sar Arctic 1200 Series XL.1207 watch belongs to the Land series and highlights the contrast of ice and fire. The case is made of steel, very robust and articulated. The sharp edges along with the steel bracelet attachment give the watch a “sharp” look. Finally, something new!
An interesting feature is the unusual placement of the trigalight tubes on the dial. These are now horizontal except at the 3 and 9 positions, where they are positioned vertically. The tritium capsules, embedded on the hands and indices, take care of readability in the dark for up to 25 years. The sapphire crystal, on the other hand, has an anti-reflective coating. The watch has a bi-directional rotating compass lunette, and the dial features hours in 12hr and 24hr formats.
The watch is water resistant to 200m and the robust steel case and bracelet make it suitable for harsh conditions. The weight is higher at 200g, but this is not a fault with this type of watch.
Because it is an Ice-Sar Arctic Series, the watch has the area around Iceland depicted on the dial and GPS coordinates (64°08-17N, 21°55-43W). ICE-SAR stands for Icelandic Association for Search and Rescue, which is an organization that protects people, nature and tries to prevent accidents in Iceland and elsewhere.
